In a bold move creating a stark contrast between his campaign and that of his fellow Democrats, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has agreed to a town hall forum on The Fox News Channel.
According to the Axios news website, “Fox News' Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum will host a town hall with Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders on April 15 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, with a focus on the economy and jobs.”
This move by Sanders is a smart one.
It’s true that Sanders and the DNC have a troubled past due to their overt and covert favoritism for Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Offenses that include the former DNC Chairwoman secretly leaking debate questions to Clinton during the 2016 campaign.
This move by Sanders is a smart one. Positioning yourself for exposure on the most-viewed cable network can help him improve his image and favorability with many rural voters in Pennsylvania.
This move may payoff much more down the road if Sanders clinches the nomination and square off against Trump in 2020. It is unclear if Sanders can make inroads with Trump supporters in this normally blue state that became Trump Country since 2016.
