Tens of thousands of Venezuelans took to the streets of Caracas to protest the deplorable conditions caused by the Socialist party. Power supplies to areas that oppose socialism have been cut, affecting the flow of water to these regions.
The embattled socialist President Nicolas Maduro has been challenged by The president of Venezuela’s national assembly, Juan Guaidó. Guaidó is demanding water for the Venezuelans he represents. Guaidó spoke at the rally saying,
“We haven’t just come to demand water and power. We’ve come to demand freedom and democracy,” Guaidó said at the Caracas rally, surrounded by a cheering crowd “We can’t let ourselves become used to this, we can’t put up with it, we aren’t going to let these crooks keep hold of our country.”
Most nations in the west recognize Guaidó as the rightful interim president, but Maduro continues to assert power by using the courts to smear Guaidó as an illegitimate puppet of the United States. Maduro shifts the blame for the lack of water and power to the US while accepting foreign support from communist allies Russia, China, and Cuba.
