Republican Senators vow to end impeachment efforts

Led by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, the Republican Senators have vowed to crush any efforts to impeach President Trump that the Democrat-controlled House may pass.

Fox News reporter Lukas Mikelionis wrote that Democrats in the Senate will “remain largely powerless, as although McConnell will have to act on the impeachment articles, it also requires 67 votes – a two-thirds majority – to convict the president.”

Even if the Democrats of the house go against the warnings of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and pass impeachment measures, Republicans like Texas Sen. John Cornyn believe it would lead to “nothing” in the Senate.

Cornyn also said that Democrats are making a big deal out of the issue while they hesitate to act on it because they know it would not be passed. “It would be defeated,” Cornyn claimed. “That’s why all they want to do is talk about it. They know what the outcome would be.”
