After unveiling his immigration plan on Thursday, President Trump tweeted Friday morning that illegal immigrants should “not make [themselves] too comfortable,” as they “will be leaving soon.”
Trump did not give more specifics, but Washington Examiner reporter Caitlin Yilek said Trump’s new proposal “prioritizes ‘merit-based’ immigration and would require immigrants to learn English and pass a civics exam before being admitted to the U.S.”
Trump’s immigration policies have been obstructed by Democrats in the past, but Yilek said he “appeared slightly optimistic” in his tweets Friday morning.
“Will the Democrats give our Country a badly needed immigration win before the election?” Trump tweeted. “Good chance!”
